Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, food, activities and arts and entertainment. Enjoy!

Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail

Makapu’u Point Lighthouse Trail

I describe Makapu’u as one of those basic, short (2 miles roundtrip), paved hikes that a visitor to the island should definitely check out.  If you are a resident, you can mix this hike into your exercise routines.

The trail offers spectactular views of Koko Head, a Lighthouse built in 1909 and on clear days, the ability to see Moloka’i and Lana’i.

Couple of pointers:  Despite only being 2 miles, don’t let this trail fool you.  It gets hot and there is virtually no shade.  Hydrate and take it easy if need!  Second, this is a very popular trail which can equate to busy on weekends, holidays and mid-mornings.

Website: Makapu'u Point

Address: The park and trailhead are located off of the Kalanianaole Highway (Hwy. 72) at the southeastern-most point of Oahu.
