Excellent Empanadas
As much as I like to experience new restaurants, whenever I am in San Francisco, my brain always reminds me of Empanadas at the Ferry Building. Since I always enjoy walking along the Embarcadero, it works out quite well to grab a snack from inside the Ferry Building.
There are several vendors to choose from but I keep going back to these flaky, tasty $6 treats. My personal favorite is the Jamon y Queso which is Prosciutto with Fontina cheese. If you're in need of a quick bite you can enjoy while continuing to check out the area, I recommend El Porteno.
